International Engagement and Social Advocacy

Global Engagement: Amplifying Voices on the International Stage

Throughout my career, I have sought to amplify the voices and concerns of our communities on the global stage. Representing Australia internationally has been a profound honor and has strengthened my resolve to work for justice and equality.
  • Speaker at the United Nations, Geneva, 2012: As a Youth Delegate, I participated in discussions focused on the Rights of the Child, advocating for policies that protect and uplift children worldwide. This experience was pivotal in shaping my understanding of global governance and the importance of collaborative, cross-national efforts to address pressing human rights issues.
  • Speaker at the 18th International Human Rights Summit, United Nations, New York, 2024: Speaking at this summit allowed me to highlight the struggles and resilience of marginalised communities, particularly those in conflict regions. I am committed to advancing policies that not only protect these communities but also empower them to forge a brighter future.
  • Panelist at the 4th International Youth Forum, United Nations Sustainable Development Council, Bangkok, 2024: My recent role in Bangkok reaffirmed my belief in the power of youth empowerment and the necessity for inclusive policies that address the unique challenges faced by young people today. Engaging with global youth leaders emphasised the importance of uplifting young voices in policy-making.
These experiences have solidified my commitment to global advocacy and creating positive change, reminding me of the significance of standing up for justice.

My Journey of Community Engagement and Reflection

Community Engagement: Building Bridges Across Cultures

With over 15 years of active involvement in various migrant communities, I am deeply committed to creating environments where every individual feels valued and heard. My journey in community engagement has taught me the importance of listening, empathy, and respect for diversity.

Community Initiatives:

  • Support for Multicultural Organisations: I have collaborated with numerous community associations, promoting programs that encourage cultural exchange and understanding, providing a platform for communities to celebrate their heritage while building connections with one another.
  • Advocacy for Social Justice: My work often focuses on issues of social justice, advocating for equitable access to services, championing youth education, and supporting economic opportunities for new arrivals. I strive to ensure that all voices are represented and that everyone has the chance to contribute to our shared future.

Personal Life and Inspirations

Outside of my professional endeavours, I am a proud father to my daughter, Ronika, and a husband to my wife, Sahar. My family serves as my greatest inspiration, reminding me daily of the values that guide my work. I also find joy in reading, writing, and walking, which offer me opportunities to reflect and recharge, keeping me grounded and connected to the world around me.

“Injustice anywhere is not merely a distant echo; it is a direct threat to the very foundations of justice everywhere. We must stand resolute in our commitment to human rights, for the fight for justice transcends borders and cultures.” – Bashir Fayaq.
